PCG® Sputum Homogenization
PCG® Sputum Homogenization
Intended use:
Liquefaction of sputum samples, facilitating the release of cells from mucus
Overview
Intended use/Indications:
PCG® Sputum Homogenization is a chemical that homogenizes sputum samples, used to process samples in molecular biology and microbiology testing procedures.
Principle:
Sputum is a type of mucus secreted by cells lining the lower respiratory tract (trachea and bronchi). Since the early 1960s, dithiothreitol (DTT) belongs to the sulfhydryl group, known to cleave disulfide bonds in mucoprotein (a component of mucus), thereby reducing the viscosity of sputum.
